The Railroad that passed through Wayland

Tracing the Tracks: Wayland's Railroad History

The railroad that once traversed Wayland was more than just a means of transportation; it was a lifeline that connected communities and fostered economic growth. Established in the late 19th century, the B&M Central Mass line played a pivotal role in the development of Wayland, bringing with it a wave of industrial and social change. This historic route not only facilitated the movement of goods and people but also served as a backdrop for countless personal stories and events, including the legendary wedding train. Today, the legacy of this railroad is preserved through the efforts of the Wayland Museum & Historical Society, ensuring that future generations can appreciate its impact on our town’s heritage.
