August 26, 2020 Celebration

At 9:30 AM at North Cemetery, a group gathered at the gravestone of Lydia Maria Child (1802-1880) to honor her advocacy for gender and racial equality, note newly registered Wayland women voters of the era, and to enjoy a display about Child and the 75-year-long struggle.

At 4:00 PM an online panel, including Katrina Huff-Larmond of Suffrage100MA, Jane Sciacca, Kevin Delaney of Wayland High School and Karen Krowne of the LWV, shared some of the fascinating stories of Wayland women who were dedicated advocates for women’s suffrage. The 4:00 PM timeslot program honored the role of “suffrage teas,” which generated support and funds for the cause.

First Parish in Wayland hosted the online Suffrage Tea at 4 PM via  Zoom. Click here to view a recording of the event which begins with Katrina Huff-Larmond.
